Public libraries in Pennyslvania are locations where information and forms for voter registration should be made available according to the 2022 Executive Order, Expansion of Voter Registration Opportunities.
To that end, our friends at the Department of State have mailed a set of posters in English and Spanish to public libraries. Look for them in your mail coming soon (maybe even today) in a round mailing tube. Please post the signs and share them in your community as a part of your library’s commitment to civic literacy.
Here are some additional ideas:
- Promote awareness of voter registration opportunities and availability of mail in ballots by directing patrons to vote.pa.gov for information from the Department of State.
- Put a link to online voter registration on your desktop computers and a direct link from your website or share via social media. The link is https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/Pages/VoterRegistrationApplication.aspx .
- Your library can request paper forms have on hand to share with patrons by using this online form: Voter Registration & Mail-In Ballot Application Request Form (office.com) or offer to print on demand as needed.
- Use graphics from the PA Voter Registration Kit to share information in your library newsletters, social media, and on websites.
- Create a book display to share information and engage your library patrons.
- Register to participate in National Voter Registration Day, happening on September 17, 2024. Find more information here: National Voter Registration Day
- Stay tuned as plans are developing for a State Library of Pennsylvania hosted Lunch and Learn webinar about elections too.
10/21/2024 is the last day to register before the 11/05/2024 election.
As a partner of DOS, you can help spread the word about the upcoming election via your communications channels, including social media, websites, newsletters, emails, etc. Specifically:
