Written by city native and historian Ken Frew, Building Harrisburg: The Architects and Builders 1719-1941 is a comprehensive look at more than 200 years of Harrisburg’s architectural history. Tracing its days from a colonial trading post and John Harris’s Ferry, to its incorporation as a third-class city and the state capital of the twentieth century, Harrisburg’s past is painstakingly researched and richly told.  If you are interested in architecture or the history of Harrisburg, Mr. Frew’s lecture is not to be missed!

The State Library has a copy of the book to reference in the library but not for sale.  His book is available at the Midtown Scholar bookstore and the Dauphin County Historical Society.
