Project ENABLE Training Web Site to Address Needs of Academic, Public and School Librarians

Project ENABLE (Expanding Non-discriminatory Access By Librarians Everywhere) is a FREE training program for librarians to gain the knowledge and skills they need to provide more effective library and information services to patrons with disabilities. Originally designed for school librarians, the site has been redesigned for use by and customized for public, academic and school librarians.

The site contains five self-paced learning modules with content to introduce you to a variety of types of disability, relevant laws and policies, design principles for library spaces, ideas for inclusive programming and instruction, and a new module on assistive technology.

University faculty, library directors, district administrators, in-service trainers, professional developers, etc. can also freely use the site or any part of it in their courses or training programs.

Project ENABLE is a project of the Center for Digital Literacy, School of Information Studies and the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University and is funded by three successive grants from the Institute of Museum & Library Services.
