The Bureau of Library Development (BLD) is implementing new district area names for four districts.
After receiving a question in April about how to make a district name change, the Statewide Services Advisor developed a list of name change recommendations. The list of proposed name changes was shared with all district administrators and district consultants for feedback. After the deadline for feedback – whether for or against the changes – passed, a finalized list was created. The following are the changes – there is no change to the entity that is the district library center. As of this posting, the name changes have been implemented at the Office of Commonwealth Libraries (OCL) and in LibPAS. Please be sure to update any internal documents that may exist with the historical names.
- District area named “Doylestown” is now named the “Bucks” district.
- District area named “Erie” is now named “Northwest” district.
- District area named “Washington” is now named the “Southwest” district.
- District area named “York” is now named the “South Central” district.
