Attention Libraries: A draft of Aging Our Way, PA, a 10 year strategic master plan for aging populations from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging is available for public comment until March 20.
From the start, Office of Commonwealth Libraries (OCL) was at the table for this work, representing the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) in the planning process that engaged agencies and service providers from across the Commonwealth who serve aging populations. Libraries are recognized as the reliable, appropriate and trusted support for aging Pennsylvanians in every way – this plan will allow us to engage in concrete actions as a partner of state agencies and providers locally, regionally, and statewide.
Action request:
- Please take some time to review the draft 10 year strategic plan to serve aging Pennsylvanians and provide feedback from your perspective as library staff and leaders of community anchor institutions. It can be viewed online at Aging Our Way, PA or download the .pdf.
- Share information about the plan with the interested public and community partners to promote the opportunity for public comment and engagement to Pennsylvanians.
Libraries are mentioned many times in the plan. PDE and OCL expect to collaborate with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and the library field on implementation.
