Due to pending renovations to the Forum Building, the State Library of Pennsylvania will close on June 1, 2019 and reopen on July 1, 2019 at its temporary Capitol Campus location at the Keystone Building. We expect to be at this location for the next two (or more) years until renovations at the Forum Building are complete.
While closed, the reading rooms will be closed for patron use and all Interlibrary Loan services will be suspended.
When the library reopens on July 1, it will be located on the Plaza Level of the Keystone Building. The new street address for visitors will be:
Street Address:
State Library of Pennsylvania
Plaza Level
400 North Street
Harrisburg, PA 17120.
The mailing address for the State Library (and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, which includes the Bureau of Library Development) will be:
Mailing Address:
Office of Commonwealth Libraries
State Library of Pennsylvania
333 Market Street
Harrisburg, PA 17126.
All other telephone numbers and email addresses for the Office of Commonwealth Libraries will remain the same.
Services Upon Reopening
When the library reopens on July 1, only a small portion of the State Library’s collection will be available on site. This means that patrons visiting the library will need to plan their visits carefully by requesting materials well in advance so that they can be pulled when the library staff makes its weekly visits to the Forum to retrieve items.
Online forms will be available later this summer to request items on the State Library’s website (www.statelibrary.pa.gov) .
