Ryan Dowd to Present Multi-district Workshop on Homelessness | Compendium

A FREE multi-District CE opportunity will be presented on:
Monday, August 5th, 1:00pm-5:00pm
at Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, PA 18102.

Ryan Dowd, author of  The Librarian’s Guide to Homelessness, and a nationally sought-after speaker, will lead a four-hour training workshop on the topic.  This interactive training is part “how to understand your homeless patrons” and part “how to work with difficult patrons.”  It focuses on very practical tools you can use every day to resolve problems and prevent conflict.  There is a special focus on patrons with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Please note that this CE event is ideal for front line staff who deal with these issues on a daily basis, so PLEASE make this opportunity available to ALL of your staff.  While Allentown can accommodate up to 100 people, we would encourage everyone who is interested to RSVP to Mark Sullivan sullivanm@allentownpl.org as soon as possible.

This project is made possible in part by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, Governor.
