Understanding the Importance of a Professional Development Plan

What is it? This 90-minute workshop will provide attendees with the foundational skills to build their professional development plan and identify their personal brand. Attendees will learn how to identify their core values, strengths, and development areas and the importance of setting timelines on which to achieve their professional goals. Attendees will receive a digital workbook as a blueprint to draft, revise, and produce an effective professional development plan.

Who is it for? This workshop is ideal for any library worker interested in learning how to identify knowledge gaps and articulate their learning goals.

Where is it? This workshop will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams on April 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM.


The Bureau of Library Development (BLD) in the Office of Commonwealth Libraries supports libraries and library services for Pennsylvanians through the administration of state and federally funded programs and grant opportunities including LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act), Library AccessLAMP (Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians), the Public Library Subsidy, and Keystone Grants for Public Library Facilities. BLD also provides advisory services, professional development, and continuing education for library staff and volunteer leadership at public, school, academic, and special libraries.
