Professional Development Grants REVISED with NEW DATES | Compendium

Dates below have been revised from previously published dates.  The revised dates are underlined.

Pennsylvania library workers and library trustees are invited to apply for professional development grants!

Up to $1200 is available for training that addresses any of the following topics

  • Accessible website development and technology
  • Computer  or technology devices or services
  • Community Engagement
  • Facilities Management
  • Fiscal Literacy
  • Teen Services
  • Measurement and Evaluation
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
  • Strategic Planning
  • Teen Services

The maximum scholarship will be $1200, provided on a reimbursement basis.  Scholarship funds may only reimburse registration fees and course materials, lodging and these transportation costs: mileage, tolls, train or air travel costs. All awarded events must be completed within the grant round time period.  For example, round 2 takes place between January 15 and April 30 so the event must be concluded by April 30.

The grant will be awarded to the employing library to be used for the library worker to attend the event.  Both the person desiring to attend a training event and the library director must sign the application form.  Grant guidelines will be available on the Pennsylvania LSTA website.

These grants are made possible with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Any travel reimbursement will be based on the State rate.  Acceptable hotel rates are available on www.gsa.gov. Reimbursement requests need to be submitted within 2 weeks after attendance at the training event and must be on forms you will receive if granted a scholarship. Funding may not be used for advocacy training or fund development training.

Expectations:
Within 2 weeks of attending the event:
*submit a report for the Compendium
OR
contact Diana Megdad to make arrangements for a webinar, podcast or in-person presentation with the Office of Commonwealth Libraries
AND
*submit a final LSTA report within 2 weeks of attendance of the training event.
