The Pennsylvania Library Association’s (PaLA) mission is to advance libraries and librarianship in PA.  Membership is open to both individuals (librarians & library staff, trustees, students, lay (Friends & non-employees)) and organizations (public, school, college, special libraries).
The Association also provides professional state level advocacy in Harrisburg and federal level advocacy in partnership with ALA.  In addition, the Association provides professional & leadership development programs, resources, connections, scholarships, awards, newsletters, and job line postings. They provide qualified continuing education, and Act 48 credits through regional workshops and the Annual Conference.
The PA Forward initiative centers on “Literacy is power. LIBRARIES provide the fuel, for you, your community, for Pennsylvania.”  The Star Library Program recognizes those libraries who achieve bronze, silver, and gold stars in training, programming, and literacy focused actions.
