One Book, Every Young Child Changes and Ordering Information | Compendium

There are a number of changes to the One Book, Every Young Child program for 2019.

There will be two books available for purchase:

  • Barnyard Banter by Denise Fleming for infants and toddlers
  • Not a Box by Antoinette Portis for children ages 3-5.
This title is also available in Spanish

Each library will receive one copy of the two titles.

Libraries, Friends of the Library groups, other non-profits, service organizations, early childhood programs and schools will be able to purchase paperback copies of the selected titles through Scholastic’s FACE and Literacy Partners programs.  Unfortunately, hardback and big book editions will not be available for purchase.

There will be no minimum or fixed quantities required, you may purchase exactly how many you need.

Access the FACE application form.  If you already belong to Scholastic’s FACE or Literacy Partners programs you just need to submit the order form.  Books should arrive within two to three weeks after ordering.

A two-page Family Fun Guide for both titles will be available on the One Book (www.paonebook.org) website by January. Other guides aligned with the Pennsylvania Standards for Early Childhood  will be available with activities, as well.

Beginning in 2019 there will no longer be author visits, Traveling Trunks (we will be providing a list of materials if you would like to create your own), stickers or printed activity guides.  Due to the lack of private funding we will no longer be mailing copies of the selected titles to early childhood programs.

Each library will receive one copy of both titles.

Hopefully these changes will allow us to sustain the program in the future.
