In early February, the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region, will open funding opportunities for May 1, 2019 – April 30, 2020 projects.
Requests for Proposals will be announced for the following:
Health Information Outreach Project: Education and outreach projects that improve access to biomedical and health information and increase the ability of the public and health professionals to use these resources.
NNLM All of Us Community Engagement Award: Projects to support public libraries and organizations who develop programming for public libraries that involve information and education about the NIH All of Us Research program and health information literacy.
Health Sciences Library Project: Projects that support health sciences librarians as conduits of information management, access, and delivery within their institution and/or outreach community.
Professional Development Award: Awards to assist individuals working in MAR Network member organizations to enhance their ability to use NLM resources or keep current on topics related to NIH initiatives.
Most awards are up to $20,000. Professional Development awards are up to $2,500.

Applying for All of Us Funding – Health Programs for Public Libraries – February 19, 2:00-3:00 PM ET – This webinar will include a presentation of background information about the NNLM partnership with the All of Us Research Program, information about the NNLM All of Us Community Engagement Network, insight about what types of library projects qualify for NNLM MAR All of Us funding, and opportunities for continued involvement.
Grants and Proposal Writing – February 27, 2:00-3:30 PM ET – Designed for beginning grant proposal writers, this class presents a general overview of the grant and funding processes as well as the level of detail required in a successful proposal. Each component of the grant writing process will be addressed, including the specific requirements for NNLM MAR funding. Note: attendance is restricted to individuals in the MAR region (DE/NJ/NY/PA).
Health Statistics on the Web – February 28, 12:00-1:00 PM ET – This hands-on course focuses on the location, selection, and effective use of statistics relevant to health on the local, state, national, and international levels. This course may be useful in gathering data related to target populations for your proposed project.
Activate, Collaborate and Educate: Health Outreach and Programming in Your Community – March 19, 3:00-4:00 PM ET – This course will provide an overview of ideas to conduct health outreach and create health programs for libraries and community/faith based organizations. Participants will learn how to integrate resources from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and other reputable agencies to introduce community members to NLM resources in fun and engaging ways.
