Libraries across the United States are gearing up for National Library Week which will occur from April 23-29 in 2023.
Pennsylvania’s Governor Josh Shapiro has signed a proclamation for all of Pennsylvania to declare the week. See a copy of the Pennsyvlania proclamation for National Library Week 2023 that can be used with your own events and media for National Library Week. It will be shared statewide via a PDE press releases and advisory on April 26 during a visit to the Degenstein Community Library in Sunbury. National Library Week includes days to highlight special areas:
- Monday, April 24: Right to Read Day is a National Day of Action in support of the right to read.
- Tuesday, April 25: National Library Workers Day, a day for everyone to recognize the valuable contributions made by library workers.
- Wednesday, April 26: National Library Outreach Day, a day the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.
- Thursday, April 27: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to urge members of Congress to protect the freedom to read.
