Join the National Study on Library Card Access: Deadline December 6 | Compendium

Attention PA Public Libraries:

Please take a few minutes to complete the National Study on Library Card Access being conducted by the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA) in collaboration with the Brooklyn Public Library for research purposes.  Apologies for the short notice, but please take action swiftly if you can, on or before December 6, 2023.

Use this link to complete the Library Card Access Survey: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7495017/decc591a954COSLA

If you are familiar with the process for issuing library cards in your library, this survey should not take long to complete.

The survey collects data about cardholder signup process for adults and children/teenagers, as well as how these policies and procedures are revised (see survey questions in full here.) Because library name is linked to IMLS PLS data, respondents will not be asked to answer questions about their budget, service population, or other standard questions.

This is not a mandatory data collection, but will help Brooklyn Public Library to share nationwide findings about library card access in a report issued to the field in spring 2024.  There will be a working group convened next summer to publish a framework for library leaders of best practices around cardholder access.
