FREE Disaster Prep Class in Akron, Ohio | Compendium

You are invited to join a FREE in-person disaster preparation workshop in Akron, Ohio on Friday, April 3rd from 1-5pm.

Summa Health System’s Akron City Hospital Medical Library is sponsoring the continuing education course, Handling Disasters in Libraries. Leaks, severe weather, busted pipes in frozen temperatures, fires – all things that none of us ever want to deal with, but if they do happen, we want to make sure we are prepared. This course will help you ready your library in the event of a disaster and help you make sure that your services suffer as little disruption as possible.

Holly Ann Burt from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine’s Greater Midwest Region will teach the course, one of two 2-hour classes:

10-Step Approach to Disaster Readiness (http://nnlm.gov/ep/10-step-workshop-materials/)

Disaster Planning in the Library and Beyond (http://nnlm.gov/training/epbeyond/index.html)

You may take one or the other for 2 hours of CE, or both. Those who stay for both will receive 2 certificates and 4 hours of CE. The CE is being issued by the Medical Library Association.

Take advantage of this free opportunity to learn about disaster preparedness. They have plenty of seating so please feel free to share with your colleagues who may not have received this message.

The class will be held in the Firestone Auditorium on the Akron City Hospital campus. Light refreshments will be available.

The address is: 55 Arch Street, Akron, OH 44304

A parking deck is attached to 55 Arch street, accessible from Upson Street. (See attached map.)
