Environmental Education Grants Available

Glenn R. Miller

Glenn Miller, Deputy Secretary & Commissioner for Libraries

I’m pleased to announce that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced the availability of grants as part of its Environmental Education Grant Program.

Libraries are eligible to apply as non-profit organizations.  Municipalities may apply on behalf of libraries that are departments of county, city, borough, or township governments.

Libraries that are considering or have active STEM programs that emphasize local and regional environmental issues may wish to consider applying for projects that will begin July 1, 2019.

About the Environmental Education Grant Program

Organizations may apply for mini-grants of up to $3,000, or general grants up to $25,000.

Applications are due January 11, 2019 and must be submitted online via the Commonwealth’s Single Application Grants System.  (Please note that this is a different e-grants system than the one used by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to apply for grants with the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.)

If you are considering an application and are new to the Environmental Education Grant Program, you are encouraged to email a one-page proposal summary with the total requested grant amount to RA-epEEgrants@pa.gov by December 7, 2018. DEP will respond with comments to the applicant within seven days of email receipt.
