New LibGuide Resource: Public Library and Funding Recipient Data
The Public Library and Funding Recipient Data LibGuide provides statistical information about state aided public libraries within the Commonwealth. It also provides information about other types of entities that receive federal and state funds from the Commonwealth that support library services.
Contents of the Public Library and Funding Recipient Data LibGuide include:
- Individual Public Library Data – Contains information submitted to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for the national Public Libraries Survey (PLS).
- Pennsylvania Public Library Data – Displays an infographic of the most recently certified statewide data submitted to IMLS for the PLS.
- National Public Library Data – Provides access to the IMLS’s Library Search and Compare site. It also provides access to the Connecticut Division of Library Development’s downloadable spreadsheet. Users can edit the spreadsheet to compare libraries within the state and within the nation based on service area parameters.
- Other Funding Recipient Data – Provides access to information about Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds, Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund grants, and other Commonwealth supported projects.

The Bureau of Library Development (BLD) in the Office of Commonwealth Libraries supports libraries and library services for Pennsylvanians through the administration of state and federally funded programs and grant opportunities including LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act), Library Access, LAMP (Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians), the Public Library Subsidy, and Keystone Grants for Public Library Facilities. BLD also provides advisory services, professional development, and continuing education for library staff and volunteer leadership at public, school, academic, and special libraries.
