The Bangor Public Library proudly announces it’s 100th Anniversary celebration scheduled for October 3, 2021 from 2-4PM.
It was June 1, 1921 when the Bangor Women’s Club achieved its goal of opening a public library. Presidents Mrs. William Blake (1913-1916), Mrs. Joseph Long (1916-1918, 1921-1922), and Mrs. Charles Gold (1918-1921) led fund-raisers, purchased books, and leased space in the Merkel Building on Market Street. Easton Library’s W.M. Marx and the State Library’s Miss Anna Mac Donald assisted greatly in the Bangor Women’s Club’s efforts to organize the new library.
Today we are blessed with an educational and recreational facility that improves the lives of us all in the Bangor area. Books, movies, computers and audio books are available. On-line services, strong Wi-Fi, and Chrome Books are here as well. The library is hosting an extravaganza of activities and food, giveaways, and tours, plus a scavenger hunt. We hope to see you here at 39 South Main Street, Bangor, PA 18013 on October 3rd!
