The Office of Commonwealth Libraries announces the availability of funding for an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Professional Development Training Grant to support library staff to receive training. This project is made possible by Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
There are two types of awards:
- Bring Virtual Training to Your Organization: Organizations can arrange for a training provider to deliver a virtual training targeted for the needs of library staff at your organization. (maximum award: $6,000)
- Individuals Attend Virtual Training: Individual library staff members at your organization can apply to attend a virtual training. (maximum award: $1,000)
Office of Commonwealth Libraries seeks to empower the library workforce to understand cultural awareness and access new knowledge to perform their duties equitably and inclusively with confidence, ultimately contributing to a welcoming and safe space for all people within the community they serve.
This funding opportunity supports library workers to receive professional development training that will help their organizations to apply principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the systems, practices, and work functions performed by library staff and experienced by library customers. Training in this area helps library organizations better support marginalized communities and improve service to underrepresented populations.
The application period opens on March 1. Detailed information about this opportunity and how to apply is attached to this message:
