The Northeast, Wilkes-Barre and Pottsville Library Districts will be presenting RA for All: Diversity & Inclusion through Reader’s Advisory workshop featuring Becky Spratford of RA for All (http://raforall.blogspot.com/). Spratford will present 4 modules detailed below – RA for All, Booktalking, Demystifying Genre and RA Rethink.
The workshop will take place on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Holiday Inn Wilkes-Barre East Mountain, 600 Wildflower Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. Registration begins at 9AM, with the program to run 9:30-3:30. An educational lunch is included in the registration fee of $15.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion statement: RA for All’s programs are crafted and delivered to encourage library staff to use leisure reading as a way to connect with the community, with a particular focus on reaching the underserved and promoting own voices authors. Throughout the day of programming we will explore ways in which library staff can provide services, collections, and programming that puts EDI concerns at the forefront. Examples include but are not limited to, delivering the same information in different formats, advice on how to diversify your displays, and ways to include more staff voices in basic RA service [more voices= more equitable, diverse, and inclusive offerings].
