Jerilynne Stewart, Corrections Librarian at the State Correctional Institution Mahanoy in Frackville, has been awarded the 2019 Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant. Her project, Doing Time Doesn’t Have to Mean Behind the Times, uses non-fiction graphic novels to boost visual literacy in a non-internet/no-smart-phone community. The project seeks to promote visual literacy through non-fiction graphic novels and promote reading and vocabulary development.
