A Positive Approach to Care™: Serving Our Patrons Facing Dementia
Wednesday, June 6, 2018
9:00am – 3:30pm
Bosler Memorial Library,
158 West High Street, Carlisle 17013
Meeting Room A/B

Please see this link to the proposed agenda for the day.
Please see this link for directions to the Bosler Memorial Library.

Mentors from the organization founded by Teepa Snow, a leading educator on dementia and the care that accompanies it, will provide a Positive Approach to Care™ Skills workshop focused on three main objectives, including awareness, knowledge, and skills assessment.

We will develop an increased awareness in the changes that can occur in cognitive ability and how our appropriate responses to these changes can result in more successful interactions with members of our community affected by dementia.  The development of the science and the theory behind the use of the skills and approach to those affected by dementia or their caregivers or care partners will be presented, and there will be time where we will practice skills during the workshop so that our interactions with those suffering from this cognitive memory disorder are more positive and effective.

Please note:
Coffee and tea will be provided in the morning with no other breakfast provisions.  Lunch is on your own.  You are welcome to bring your own lunch (please note that there is limited refrigerator space), or there are a variety of local eateries in the downtown Carlisle area near Bosler Memorial Library; a list of suggestions can be found here.  There is no catered lunch for the workshop.

Parking provisions: Parking is available in the Pomfret Street Garage, and the library can validate your ticket. In addition, there is free parking within the surrounding blocks.

The workshop is FREE.  Register:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WBRQKJ3
